(1) The administration would kowtow to student activists by agreeing to meet with them and behave as if their demands merited serious consideration. (2) She didn't kowtow to color, she didn't kowtow to power, she didn't kowtow to men. She was very, very strong. 另外補充一些相關的 GRE 單字, servile (a) 恭順的、服從的 (跟 servant, service 有關) deference (n) 尊重、遵從 (不要和 difference 搞混) obsequious (a) 諂媚的 (ob- "after", sequ- "follow",老是跟在別人後面,拍馬 "屁" 就是諂媚) 此外,你曉得 tea 是從中文的 "茶" (用台語念) 演變而成的嗎?
