Context:
A major concern of globalisation is that it contributes to poverty, inequality
and social disintegration by reducing the bargaining power of low-skilled
labour and decreacing job security. This is because production of manufactured
goods can be moved from a country to another one with relative ease, but
workers are far more restricted in their ability to cross borders. However,
companies working with natural resources - for example mining and oil and gas
etc., have to make long term committments because of the more immobile
nature of their businesses.
