Specific interests include object detection; object tracking; object recognition; online appearance model; human motion analysis (tracking and pose estimation); vision-based human computer interaction; visual learning; visual search; robust feature tracking; and related areas. I'm looking for individuals strongly motivated to earn a PhD in computer science or electrical engineering and publish their work in leading conferences and journals in the areas mentioned above. Students may be funded by teaching assistantships and external grants. Desired qualifications: - A BS or preferably an MS in CS, EE, Math or related areas. - Strong mathematical basis (multivariate calculus, linear algebra, probability & statistics, numerical analysis, information theory, etc.). - Strong programming ability in Matlab and C++. The Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS) graduate group at UC Merced consists of 9 core faculty, 18 PhD students and several MS students.
