[資訊] 緊張嗎?!先吃塊餅乾吧
一、 筆者之前常去夜店，服務生通常會上鹹餅乾等零食上來，某種程度來說，倒
是符合這個研究要指出的邏輯。
二、 內文: Stressed? Perhaps you don't have enough salt in your diet.
A new study from the Journal of Neuroscience suggests that elevated levels of
salt in the body lower stress hormones and raise levels of a particular
hormone that's involved in love and other social connections. It turns out
that the same hormones that help the kidneys respond to dehydration also
regulate the brain's response to stress and social anxiety.
When compared to a control group, the rats that received the sodium chloride
secreted fewer stress hormones when presented with a stressor and were more
interactive and less socially anxious when placed in pairs.

1. stressed(adj):感到壓力的，diet(N):飲食，journal(N):期刊、日誌，
neuroscience(N):神經科學，elevate(V):提升(高)，lower(V):降低，hormone(N):賀爾
蒙，involve(V):參與、有關連，kidney(N):腎，dehydration(N):脫水，regulate(V):控
制、管理，sodium chloride:氯化鈉(食鹽)，secrete(V):分泌、隱藏，stressor(N):壓
力源，interactive(adj):互動的、互相配合的，pair(N):一對。
2. 本篇是講食用鹽巴，某種程度可以舒緩緊張的情緒，較多出現的是adj的字
彙，來表示反應，如stressed(感到壓力的)、elevated(提高的)、interactive(互動的)
與anxious(焦慮的)。一般來說，現在分詞(V+ing)與過去分詞（如stressed與elevated）
都可以當作adj，例如:
A. The fallen leaves covered the new driveway. (落葉鋪滿了車道。) fall
－＞fallen(過去分詞)
B. Falling trees are a danger to hikers.(倒下的樹隊登山客來說是相當危
險的。)fall－＞falling(現在分詞)
C. I’d rather eat at a recently inspected restaurant. (我比較到剛經過
檢查的餐廳用餐。) inspect－＞inspected(過去分詞)
D. Growing children need a lot of food. (正在長大中的孩子需要吃很多食
物。) grow－＞growing(現在分詞)
E. Grown children often move out of the house. (孩子長大後，通常就搬出
去住了。) grow－＞grown(過去分詞)
F. 以D與E 2句子來比較，growing當形容詞，修飾children，表示這個動作還在「進行中
」(指身材繼續長大)，grown當形容詞，修飾children，表示這個動作「已經完成了」(不
再長大了，邁向成人了)。 .
