Job Advertisement at Chen-Hsiang Yeang's Lab, Institute of Statistical
Science, Academia Sinica
Cancer is a highly complex disease that defies all sorts of treatments.
Beyond biological investigation of the underlying processes, chemical
exploration of drug compounds, and clinical applications of those
discoveries, big data analysis of the multi-modal cancer omic data and
mathematical modeling of cancer genome evolution under therapeutic regimens
are the essential aspects of contemporary cancer research. Our lab tackles
diagnosis and treatments of cancer with computational/statistical approaches:
integrative analysis of large-scale, multi-modal omic data from multiple
cancer types, modeling the evolution of heterogeneous tumor populations,
and designing optimal combinatorial treatment strategies. We are looking
for motivated postdoctoral researchers and research assistants to
participate in the projects that may have a profound impact to cancer
diagnosis and treatment.

Requirements of candidates:
1) Proficiency in at least one programming language (R, Matlab, C, Perl,
Python and Java preferred, other languages acceptable).
2) Prior experience of handling either high-throughput genomic data or
other types of large-scale data.
3) Postdoctoral researchers should have either quantitative background
(bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics,
math, etc.) with an interest in biological data analysis or experimental
background (biology, chemistry, bioengineering, medicine, etc.) with
an interest and capability to learn programming and data analysis.
4) Capability of English communication (read and speak for research
assistants; read, speak and write for postdoctoral researchers).
