[考題] 請問一題翻譯題
十年前在那個學校旁邊是一座湖，但現在學校旁邊是一間旅館。
答案是 There was a lake beside/next to/by the school ten years ago, but there
is a hotel beside it/the school now.
請問若寫 A lake was beside/next to/by the school ten years ago, but
a hotel beside it/the school now. 省略掉there is/was 的話是不是應該對
的呢?
另外若寫 It was a lake beside/next to/by the school ten years ago, but
it is a hotel beside it/the school now. 是不是不行，該如何解釋呢?
感覺怪怪的，是不是變成強調了，如果是的話是不是該用定冠詞而不是
不定冠詞呢? 那這個it是代名詞還是虛主詞呢?
