我最近讀了旋元佑老師的英文信 http://0rz.tw/033Zh 我有以下問題想問旋老師，但是目前沒有得到回應，我把問題貼到下面請大家給我一些在英文見解上的主觀或是客觀的意見(只就英文方面的)謝謝。 1. 在句子"I believe there may be a serious mistake in the book."中，我不太了解為什麼這個mistake會是如何的serious。我不是希望您解釋為什麼，而是說是否應該加一些句子會更完整? 例如改成"I believe, in this book, there may be a mistake, which is obvious and should not be found in a popular teaching material" 2. "When I looked at the corresponding Explanations, they failed to convince me"，convince的用法跟據 http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/convince 是否要改成類似 they failed to convince me of the choice 或是改用其他字，例如 I cannot be persuaded by them. 3. "There are two problems with this choice". 我認為第一句話要能給大家這個段落的方向，是不是在加一些子句會更佳，例如 "This choice has a problem in logical with two reasons." 4. "First, The first sentence of the last paragraph says" 這裡有兩個first，是不是不要用第二個first改成 "First, the beginning of the last paragraph says "會比較好呢? 5. since the first clause (starting “Even though”) is merely a concession. "starting “Even though” "是否要改成"starting with “Even though”" ? 6. "The structure of the last paragraph indicates that the concluding sentence is a summary of the main idea," 是否不需要The structure....較通順，修改後如下"In last paragraph, the concluding sentence is a summary of the main idea," 7. "This Explanation necessitates a look at" 和"The logic of the Explanation necessitates a look at"哪個比較通順呢? 8. "Therefore, the theme of Choice 2 is neither broader nor narrower than that of Choice 1."與"And, the theme of Choice 2 is neither broader nor narrower than that of Choice 1." Therefore和And您認為哪個比較通順呢? 9. "The first two sentences of paragraph 2 serve as transition that leads to the third:" 是不是serve as transition少了一個 "a"，應該是"serve as a transition"? 10. 請問句中"which is basically what Choice 1 says."，我常看到basically的用法，但是我想不透在文法上這個句子中basically是形容誰呢? 11. "Sentence 5 (not sentence 4 as the Explanation says) truly points out a “ significant difference” between the two kinds of arts.t"中，truly我認為改成 "does"比較好，kinds改成types比較好，我的想法正確嗎? 12. I’m supposed to start teaching a TOEFL Reading class in Taipei around May 25, 中若是改成"start to teach"或是" I’m supposed to teach"會比較好還是沒差呢? 為什麼好或不好或是真的沒有差別嗎? 13. "I cannot in good faith tell my students what they see in the Official Guide is correct."，為什麼要用" in good faith"，而且就算是一個小錯也不代表說整本書都是沒有價值，我認為只要"I cannot speak loudly that the Official Guide is totally correct in the classroom." or "This Official Guide is not worth to be used in the classroom, if a teacher cannot fully trust it" 14. "If I am mistaken in my interpretations"，我認為改成"If I am mistaken in interpretation of these Explanations in the book"比較好，對嗎? 15. 最後 "please enlighten me"是不是錯的呢? 根據 http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/enlighten. enlighten後面會加as to/on/about something。 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.116.245.220
