The Executive Mistake to Avoid:
“Opposite”
“I was talking loudly on the phone so the opposite man was staring at me”
The word opposite does have the meaning of “across from”, but for people,
the word comes after the person, not before it.
For places or location, it is the other way.
This makes the word more difficult to use, so just use “across from”
instead.
“I was talking loudly on the phone so the man across from me was staring at
me”
