台大外籍教授史嘉琳指出國中9年級英語常見試題答案的謬誤。 A question from Ashley Lee: > Dear Prof. Chung, “He is not in Taiwan. He has ____ America for two weeks.” (A) gone to (B) been in (C) gone in (D) been to The answer given to this multiple choice question is (B). Could you please explain the differences among (A), (B), and (D)? --- Hi Ashley - (A) is the best answer, since it informs the listener of his *departure*. (B) is possible but not as good, since it doesn't convey the new information of him leaving - it skips a step. (D) is simply incorrect - you usually follow "been to" with an adverb of frequency, e.g. "three times", but you wouldn't use a time phrase like "two weeks". -- > Thank you.
