I, who ____ your teacher, must teach you ___ . (A) is; good (B) are; well (C) am; good (D) is; well Source: 師大英語系教授統計,最容易錯的15題 se16teddy said: Yes, C could be an unusual and awkward but grammatical way of saying something like I, who am your teacher, must teach you the difference between right and wrong. gengo replied: I agree. Of the four choices, only C is possible, and it is with the meaning of good as a noun. We natives all seem to agree, though, that the sentence is not idiomatic. It is probably just a poor translation from Chinese. I've never attended school in China, but it is my impression that school teachers there are much more likely to teach their students about good and evil than are teachers in Western countries (where such education is considered to be the purview of parents, not teachers), and if that's true, the sentence probably sounded fine in the original Chinese. In idiomatic English, the sentence would probably be something like: I am your teacher, and it's my job to teach you right from wrong. -- 揮揮手能幫人收驚,一聲「安靜!」竟能號令小鬼!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDdmAbgW_2c&t=1169s
