[Talk] Tastes like Chicken?
When you eat exotic or even bizarre meat, what will come to your mind?
And how will you express your feelings?
I believe the answers will vary from person to person.
But for people who live in Mid-West of US, they probably will tell you
that it tastes just like chicken.
Why? Because by comparison, Midwesterners eat the most plain,
simple food in America, and they don't have the appetite for
fancy food like people in east coast or west coast do.
Since they are not used to trying new things, it's quite natural
that they don't know how to distinguish the differences of the taste.
Midwesterners like hunting. When I asked my friends what do
the animals (they hunt) taste like, near all of them would tell me
“It tastes just like chicken!”
If he or she didn't know how to answer me, others would remind them
the answer. And he or she would show relief and tell me,
“Yes, it tastes just like chicken!”
Oh, well, I don't think deer and buffalo taste like chicken! -__-
But that's their feelings toward those meats.
This shows Midwesterners don't care about food that much.
It's interesting and surprising for me to know that some guys thought
the food in McDonald's were delicacies.
“Very yummy” – that's the expression they showed when talked about
McDonald's food….
McDonald's tasted OK, but never delicacies for me.
The only reason I loved McDonald's was because I could buy daily
special for 99 cents everyday in the town I lived. :0
So I am not sure the typical mid-western meal would be better than
the famous English Fish & chips. Probably a tie, I guess. :)
PS,“Mid-West” this term is a somewhat archaic now, because more
accurate terms for these locations are East North Central States
and West North Central States, ex: Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota,
blah..blah..
