Just found this place. Wow, it's pretty quiet here. I would like to share an old song which I came across on the radio. ----------- The Rose - originally by Bette Midler (I love the version by 阿桑 a lot more) Some say love, it is a river That drowns the tender reed Some say love, it is a razor That leaves your soul to bleed Some say love, it is a hunger An endless aching need I say love, it is a flower And you, its only seed It's the heart afraid of breaking That never learns to dance It's the dream afraid of waking That never takes the chance It's the one who won't be taken Who cannot seem to give And the soul, afraid of dying That never learns to live When the night has been too lonely And the road has been too long And you think that love is only For the lucky and the strong Just remember in the winter Far beneath the bitter snows Lies the seed that with the sun's love In the spring becomes the rose ------------ This song is beautiful and some of the lines resonate with me. My favorate is as in the signautre. How would you read this line? "It's the one who won't be taken Who cannot seem to give" I pondered what it intended to convey all afternoon, and managed to rephrase like this at the end: "it's the one who does not open his/her heart to be loved, who is not able to love, either." Who doesn't want to be loved? I guess it's the one who is afraid of being hurt later would hesitate to be loved, and naturally, lose the ability to love. Do you agree? -- It's the heart afraid of breaking That never learns to dance -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 36.231.84.4 (臺灣) ※ 文章網址: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/EngTalk/M.1743605661.A.B42.html ※ 編輯: u055765 (36.231.84.4 臺灣), 04/02/2025 22:59:44 ※ 編輯: u055765 (36.231.84.4 臺灣), 04/02/2025 23:01:08 ※ 編輯: u055765 (36.231.84.4 臺灣), 04/02/2025 23:11:33 ※ 編輯: u055765 (36.231.84.4 臺灣), 04/02/2025 23:12:50 ※ 編輯: u055765 (36.231.84.4 臺灣), 04/02/2025 23:14:38
