it is icy cold here....
i got an email from our ceo in france saying that "you are sold!"
im not kidding
we are sold
i work in this fashion company since last august
it is one of the largest fashion companies in the world
so here's the story
yesterday morning, i went to work as usual
it was a bit strange when i walked into the company
you know that feel when people are talking on the hallway
and trying to lower their voice while they know they really cant
i didnt really pay much attention, and just walked by
i sat down, logged into my computer, and opened my mailbox
there was an email from the god dang HR
i never really read HR's emails
because they are always just a bunch of wordy and meaningless jargon
you know, if someone gets promoted,
the HR would write that person a freaking long worship song
and say something like "he/she will be assigned senior level responsibilities"
which you know thats not true
because that person has looooooong been taking senior level responsibilities
but!!! if someone gets busted
they would come up a ridiculous joke to make it look not that bad
while everyone knowns he/she screws or gets screwed
so come back to the email i received
yes, i read it
yes, there was a word "sell"
i was like
"humm.... does sell mean sell? no... it can't be...."
whatsoever so i moved on
yes, i moved on! disregarding all the obvious signs surrounded me
guess what?!
15 mins later, the svp called us to the conference room
o~oh~
you know what happened......
yes, the whole team just got busted!!!
that email was a screw-you-up-and-bye-bye-you-loser email
XXX (pardon me for not showing the name of my company...) decided to
sell 6 brands on the european market
yes, we are for sale right now! right now at this moment!!
and you now what, we may be on the freaking sale very soon!!
so thats my story
though people in our brand were telling me that they see more pro than con
which may be the case
because:
if you are in a big giant corporation; a well-known monster
you would be restricted by many many ways in terms of doing business
for example,
if you are in an apparel direct marketing brand,
you are not supposed or allowed to rent/exchange names with companies that offer
similar products as your corporate's other brands
(products can be totally non-related things, such as a dish washer)
even though you know their names perform the best to you
of course there is definitely an upside of working in a corporation
for example, you get to think globally and work locally (quoted from HSBC :)
anyway,
i love apparel industry
i love retail
i love mass market
i love database
i love marketing
i love my coworkers
and i love what i am doing right now
and i know im gonna stick with it no matter what
lets see whats gonna happen.....................
:D
