This Olympic the gold meadl and silver medal will be taken by pen-holers, Hao Wang, and Lin Ma. This is a inspiring thing for pen-holers because it shows that pen-holers can play as well as shakehanders, even better! There are two type of grip in ping pong. One is called pen-hold grip, which has advantage in dealing with short balls, serving, forehand speed loop, but is usually weak for handling backhand balls. The other one is called shakehand grip, which is adapted by most players nowadays. In addtion, pen-hold grip is divided into two types, Chinese and Japanese. Janpanese pen-holer only use on side of paddle to hit ball; however, Chinese pen-holer, recently invented grip, use both side of paddle as the same as shakehanders. Chinese pen-hold grip is created to improve the power of backhand of pen-holers. Thus, in view of power of backhand, Chinese pen-holder is the same as handshaker, and Japanese is relatively weaker. The reason is that it is easy for Chinese pen-holders, shakehanders to perform destructive speed loop at backhanded side; however, it is very difficult for Japanese pen-holers to perform the same thing due to the limitation of joints. In other words, the former can attack from both side, and the latter can only attack from forehanded side. By the way, Rye Seung-min is the master of Japanese pen-holders. Hao Wang, Lin Ma master the Chinese pen-hold grip. As a pen-holder, it is very thrilling to know that the gold medal winner is pen-holder.
