Though movie has finished, it still repeats some scenes in one's mind, which keeps one thinking, envisioning, and, of course, enjoying. In short, it would be inspiring. Based on the standard above, "Shall We Dance" is my favorite movie. The movie could be divided into three parts: the first is something about dull life attitude, the second part is starting to reflect routine life, and the last part is the beginnig of journey. With the first part, it is not only John, a male leading role, but also Paulina had dull feeling to everything around themselves. For John, it is due to that he is kind of getting bored of rountine business. He seemed to have no enthusiam towards anything, which made Beverley, his wife, say that she can't find anything he likes as his present. When it comes to Paulina, she got hurt mentally from dance before though she loves dance. Therefore, she got confuesd to dance, which dance is her dream, her everything. Every night, she gazed out from window with a painful, sentimental face. It seemed that she had lost something, and she was expecting something. At the same time, John gazed from outside the window, and something in his heart was awaken by the scene. Here comes the second part, one day John just took part in class of the danceschool to get close to Paulina; however, his teacher was Ms. Mitzi rather than Paulina as he hoped. In this period, he found excactly what attracted him was not Paulina but the dance! He kept thinking of dancing all the time even when he was working. At table, his feet danced spontaneously. At sleeping room, he practiced with joy. Now he found something he favored, and everything seemed harmonic and perfect. With some reason, John didn't tell Beverley that he went to dance every Wednesday. At first, Beverley thought her husband had an affair. Then she found out that he started to dance yet chose not to let her know it. That is an unacceptable behavior in marriage. Dream and family. Secret and share. Here began the journey of them. In all three parts, the first part is the most inspiring for me though the third part should be the key point of the movie. Reviewing my childhood, it is really a typical dull life style! Well, it is full of textbook, textbook, and textbooks. Jesus! How plain it was! Uh, it can't be denied that it brings some benifits; however, I missed many things at the same time. Alas... Back to the movie, dance is one of the important elements. There are enthusiastic Rumba, elegant Waltz and so on. No matter which dance it is, it must be related to usual life. In other word, dance is mutual with life. Dance is abbtraced from life. Life is the real version of dance. It shouldn't be hard to realize the fact that everyone walks with a rhythm. Based on the rhythm, one shakes arms, wriggle the waist, and maybe eye winks. See, that's a dance! Besides, dance could be catogorize as many kinds. Tango. Waltz. Rumba. Ballot. Street dance. Tap dance. There are too many to name them all. In addition, every dance is unique and different. Say, Argentina tango is beautiful, spontaneous yet with a little sorrow. Argentina tango is a couple dance with embrace posture. With no oral communication, only with body language, or specifically, suggestion. One leads and the other one follows. Circling harmonically. Move smoothly. Though two fellows embrace together, dance in the pool, yet somehow you capture the sorrow in their eyes. They seem so close in body, yet they seem so far in their mind. With the music, the voice of violin seem to share the sorrow too. Only thing should to do is tango on and on...... In this movie, it is more like ballroom dance. In other word, one must remember some formal dance step sequence, which is not the case for Argentin tango. No matter in what dance, it is inevitble that sometimes forgetting step or falling down. That's O.K. Remember one thing, "If you are tangled up, just tango on." P.S. "If you are tangled up, just tango on," is quoted from "The Scent of a Woman," which is a good movie too. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 122.120.209.138
