Steve Jobs is the man~ you have to admit that. When I was in Vancouver, I saw a lot of people using different Apple products... I was totally amazed by Apple's success. ※ 引述《JohnGan (蔣幹)》之銘言: : http://pclengblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/apples-success.html : Not until the recent antitrust classes where we discussed a hypothetical iPod case I do not realize Apple’s success is so wide and deep. : I do not have Apple’s laptops. I do not use iPod, iPhone, iTune, iMouse, iKeyboard or iLoveYou or something like that. I am more pragmatic in terms of electronic gadgets than of other stuff. From my point of view, fashionable appearance can hardly coexist with practicality; seldom does delicacy come with durability. That is why I always stay with my Taiwan-branded (Transcend) , less-than-$100 flash memory player and IBM dull-looking laptop. : Therefore, when I read the case that whether Apple’s refusal to license other legal online downloading to be played on iPod would constitute violation of the antitrust law, I instinctively found no legal issues other than a simply “no”, even though the stem of problem told me that iPod owns 72% in the portable player market. And therefore, when in discussion everyone said he/she would bring a case against Apple, which means they do believe Apple is so dominant, I could only review those precedents and : mumble “incredible” in my mind. : According the class survey, 60-70% people have iPod and thus use iTune. Even some believed that iPod itself could be deemed as single market other than other players because Apple is a “lifestyle” and an iPod is not inter-exchangeable with other players. : Before I came to US, some illusion told me that Taiwan is a mass manufacturing country of IT products and thus we use more and better and cheaper IT gadgets in our daily life, in comparison with America and Europe. And I find it is not true. In the school people, mostly coming from Europe and Latin America, in general use edge-cutting laptops and operate complicated cell phones. I am not sure if they can get those high tech toys in relatively low prices, but I always feel that I am outdated by at least : 10 years under such surroundings. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.175.131
