Name: Anne Lin Birthday: 08.05.1990 Occupation: I'm a freshman in NTU, majoring English. Hello, everyone. I just discovered this board and thought it may be really in- teresting to know many English-lovers here. :] English has always been my hobby since I was little. I like to watch American TV series and listen to English songs. Hope that I can find some friends who have the same interests here. Nice to meet you. xoxo Anne -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.197.48

Nice to meet you~~
11/30 22:51, 1F

11/30 23:26, , 2F
Foreign Language Department?
11/30 23:26, 2F

11/30 23:32, , 3F
yes, but don't be too harsh if I made mistakes :p
11/30 23:32, 3F

11/30 23:37, , 4F
NTU's Japanese Language Department seems to be
11/30 23:37, 4F

11/30 23:37, , 5F
established only recently
11/30 23:37, 5F

11/30 23:38, , 6F
so now students there have many languages to learn
11/30 23:38, 6F

11/30 23:42, , 7F
hmm... sorry, I don't quite know. It's established in
11/30 23:42, 7F

11/30 23:42, , 8F
1994, pretty new I think.
11/30 23:42, 8F

11/30 23:45, , 9F
There are so many media in English and Japanese
11/30 23:45, 9F

11/30 23:46, , 10F
language....which should have provided with good
11/30 23:46, 10F

11/30 23:46, , 11F
access to their learning
11/30 23:46, 11F

11/30 23:47, , 12F
if someday there two languages would be announced
11/30 23:47, 12F

11/30 23:47, , 13F
another two official language
11/30 23:47, 13F

11/30 23:48, , 14F
In Taiwan most people can speak the Mandarin and
11/30 23:48, 14F

11/30 23:48, , 15F
Taiwanese....the latter mostly comes from the family
11/30 23:48, 15F

11/30 23:56, , 16F
though many Taiwanese know how to speak English and
11/30 23:56, 16F

11/30 23:57, , 17F
Japanese, they seldom really use them in their daily
11/30 23:57, 17F

11/30 23:57, , 18F
life. It might be a bit hard for them to become
11/30 23:57, 18F

11/30 23:57, , 19F
so that's the point....language is to be used
11/30 23:57, 19F

11/30 23:58, , 20F
official languages here.
11/30 23:58, 20F

11/30 23:58, , 21F
English as a subject often appearing in the exams
11/30 23:58, 21F

11/30 23:59, , 22F
has sometimes almost become an esoteric branch of
11/30 23:59, 22F

12/01 00:00, , 23F
learning....quite contrary to its daily language
12/01 00:00, 23F

12/01 00:00, , 24F
status
12/01 00:00, 24F

12/01 00:01, , 25F
what i'm trying to say is no language has that big
12/01 00:01, 25F

12/01 00:01, , 26F
deal, as long as you use it habitually
12/01 00:01, 26F

12/01 00:04, , 27F
yeah, I totally agree with you. I don't like people
12/01 00:04, 27F

12/01 00:05, , 28F
studying English the way they study other subjects.
12/01 00:05, 28F

12/01 00:07, , 29F
It really won't help if one just remembering vocabulary
12/01 00:07, 29F

12/01 00:08, , 30F
or the grammar rules. Sadly, as a English major, I
12/01 00:08, 30F

12/01 00:08, , 31F
anyway, I can just take care of myself...watching
12/01 00:08, 31F

12/01 00:09, , 32F
don't have many chances to say English, either.
12/01 00:09, 32F

12/01 00:09, , 33F
movies, TV episodes, broadcast online....to help mysel
12/01 00:09, 33F

12/01 00:10, , 34F
more familiar with English listening and speaking
12/01 00:10, 34F

12/01 00:10, , 35F
yep...so now I often download films on the internet
12/01 00:10, 35F

12/01 00:11, , 36F
search for the subtitles...and watch and imitate how
12/01 00:11, 36F

12/01 00:11, , 37F
native speakers
12/01 00:11, 37F

12/01 00:19, , 38F
yeah, that's what our professor suggest us should do
12/01 00:19, 38F

12/01 00:19, , 39F
too. After weeks of listening, it really helped.
12/01 00:19, 39F

12/01 00:20, , 40F
I know I use Japanese to mess around. I kinda like
12/01 00:20, 40F

12/01 00:21, , 41F
but sometimes I think just to listen is not enough
12/01 00:21, 41F

12/01 00:21, , 42F
the ?-face and the twisting lips
12/01 00:21, 42F

12/01 00:22, , 43F
got to speak it by oneself...cuz for a native speaker
12/01 00:22, 43F

12/01 00:22, , 44F
the same sentence or phrase can be said with such a
12/01 00:22, 44F

12/01 00:23, , 45F
fluency because he is so used to it
12/01 00:23, 45F

12/01 00:23, , 46F
so occasionally one would get the tongue-tied to
12/01 00:23, 46F

12/01 00:23, , 47F
learn the way a native speak
12/01 00:23, 47F

12/01 00:29, , 48F
totally. We have to put more emphasis while native-
12/01 00:29, 48F

12/01 00:29, , 49F
speakers say it with ease.
12/01 00:29, 49F

12/01 00:31, , 50F
i'm curious what's the ?-face and the twisting lips??
12/01 00:31, 50F

12/01 00:55, , 51F
I cause confusion period
12/01 00:55, 51F

12/01 08:53, , 52F
no, you didn't. I just wanted to know. That's all. :)
12/01 08:53, 52F

12/01 12:05, , 53F
I think going to English speaking countries is the
12/01 12:05, 53F

12/01 12:05, , 54F
most helpful in learning English, even just for few
12/01 12:05, 54F

12/01 12:05, , 55F
months.
12/01 12:05, 55F

12/01 13:36, , 56F
I agree with you. I was in London for only 2 months,
12/01 13:36, 56F

12/01 13:37, , 57F
but I had to speak English all the time. It was really
12/01 13:37, 57F

12/01 13:37, , 58F
a good experience for me. I want to stay in an English
12/01 13:37, 58F

12/01 13:38, , 59F
speaking country for a longer time, but it costs much:(
12/01 13:38, 59F

12/01 13:59, , 60F
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
12/01 13:59, 60F

12/01 13:59, , 61F
Thou art more lovely and more temperate~
12/01 13:59, 61F

12/01 14:02, , 62F
is Shakespeare a necessary course of Eng. dep.?XD
12/01 14:02, 62F

12/01 18:16, , 63F
yeah, it is. However, I'm still in the "ancient" age
12/01 18:16, 63F

12/01 18:18, , 64F
studying Homer and the Bible now. I remember this
12/01 18:18, 64F

12/01 18:18, , 65F
sonnet. It's from the high school textbook, right? xD
12/01 18:18, 65F

12/02 10:13, , 66F
really? high school students today study that?
12/02 10:13, 66F

12/02 10:15, , 67F
dunno~coz high school days too far from me now XD
12/02 10:15, 67F

12/02 10:16, , 68F
I love the Bible~ you read king james version?
12/02 10:16, 68F

12/02 18:34, , 69F
Reading bible...wow. That's hardcore.
12/02 18:34, 69F

12/03 08:03, , 70F
Yeah, we read the Bible in the freshman year, but I
12/03 08:03, 70F

12/03 08:03, , 71F
start it this week. Just finished Illiad and Odyssey in
12/03 08:03, 71F

12/03 08:04, , 72F
the past few months.
12/03 08:04, 72F

12/10 14:17, , 73F
You are really good at writing as communication.
12/10 14:17, 73F

12/10 14:19, , 74F
I'm just so...fascinated
12/10 14:19, 74F

12/10 14:20, , 75F
I don't know when I can write as good as you do.
