I was thikning of the side effect of the medicine recnetly I'm taking,
which is very similar to Ritalin.
For privacy concern, I will omit the name of my medication.
Here, Ritalin - the beta blocker and drug, is not for their original medical
purposes but to boost their brain power.
This kind of mere "neuro-Gossip", is debating the
mental, physical, legal, and ethical pros and cons...
Another phrase- "Cognitive Enhancement"
means the phenomemon and use of phramaceuticals to enhance memeory, focus, and
mental stamina in healthy brains.
"Cognitive enhancers" = the pharmaceuticals themselves.
Are we the pharmaceuticals ourselves? :)
A interesting Revolutionary perspective I learned from the IEEE Spectrum, is
that "cosmetic surgery" will be replaced by "cosmetic neurology" :P
What an interesting perspective. I think this is quite scary.
Let's look at the inequalities in the societies. If in the future,
unfortunately, only the well-off can afford nootropic drugs, then the rich
became more rich, the poor became more poor, the smarter became smarter....
vise versa...
Only the intellectuals with strong conscience can devote their life to the
betterment of the future mankind.
Will God be the only savior to solve all the suffering of mankind?
Will Science serve as a supplement ? Is the Truth in Bible the ultimate
solution, that when all humans became such a perfect character as Christ, then
the unending suffering ceases.
I think this is the concern for neuroethicists.
