According the The latest Economist, retiring and pension plan in Western countries need to be largely changed. First, the retiring age should be extended from current 65 to almost 70 before 2040. Because under current situation, the fertility rate, how many young workers raise one pension, would be as high as 2.6 which is hard to last. Second, when retiring age is older, there will be more persons working in the economic system. Not only the workers earn more to support their life, the governmnet also get more tax and pay less welfare. The economy grows faster as more workers there. However, something must be changed in the working environment and the pension plan. Traditionally, people get more when they get senior in job. But most people's productivity declines with age, the working time and wage should become less to reflect that. About the pension system, people should be payed since official retiring age not their real retiring age and get paid via their average wage through working years not the last few years. This would largely reduce the pension cost and support older people when they really need it. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 118.165.5.127
