[Talk] Travel and Literature
Tourists have different must-dos in travel. Some enjoy delicious food, some
like to take photos of signature tourist attractions, and some intend to know
more about exotic cultures, to name just a few. For me, a travel without the
enrichment of literature is far from complete.
Literature has this magic of introducing tourists to an world of imagination.
The real landscape/cityscape is not just a place in real life but a setting
where fictional characters live. Just imagine you were sitting in the scene
where the major characters first met each other. The scenery, the atmosphere,
and the very fact that you are there will surely make the travel more
meaningful and unforgettable.
Thus far, there have been many books on travel literature and guidebooks for
tourists attempting to carry out a "literature walk." Tourists can follow the
characters' footsteps to know a city or a country. Travellers can even visit
the neighborhood where a writer lives/lived. If there are musuems featuring
great writers and their works, these sites are what literature lovers will not
miss.
Next time you plan a travel, why not spend some time reading literature of/for
your destination first?
