[字彙] mon- 字根
版上的文章十篇大概有五篇以上是問數學還有報名程序的，扣掉 AWA 考題
回報，真正在討論 Verbal 題或字彙相當少，正在考慮是否要停止討論數
學部分這項服務。各位有什麼提議嗎？

受到時事啟發，來講 mon- 這個字根，mon- 表「警告 (warn)」，最常見
的字就是 money，錢是萬惡的淵藪，Money is the root of all evil.
原文來自聖經，出處如下：
Bible (King James)/1 Timothy
Chapter 6
......
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some
coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows.
錢是一種警告！
由「錢」之義引出 monetary (adj) 貨幣的，這個字可以連帶記起來。
再來看 monster，古人認為怪獸出沒是上天對人類的一種警告，這點古中

當然以上兩個字 GRE 都不會考，再來看一個 GRE 單字吧。
admonish = ad (to) + mon (warn) + ish (動詞結尾) = (v.) 告誡
-ish 動詞結尾像 punish, finish 等都是。
