現在的人們是把 ferret 當做寵物養 (因為很可愛)
但牠和黃鼠狼 (weasel) 其實是同一科 (family) 的
以前是用來打獵 (hunt game*) 的 * game 這裡是 "獵物"
ferret 會去挖兔子、老鼠的地洞 (burrows)，把獵物給逼出來
也就是這個動作，使得 ferret 有 "搜尋、搜索" 的意思
用法通常是 ferret out sth.
字源來自拉丁文 fur (thief)，所以 furtive 是 "偷偷摸摸的"
