這些是以英語為母語者認為是 Easy 程度的字，你覺得呢？

hilt (M-W)
(n.) the handle of a sword or similar weapon 刀、劍柄
例句：The sword's hilt had a cool design.
主權：另外兩個跟劍的部分有關的 GRE 單字：forte (n) 長處 (一把劍最強韌的部分)。
foible (n) 短處 (一把劍最脆弱的部分)。
arachnid (M-W)
(n.) a type of arthropod (spiders, scorpions, mites) 蛛形綱動物 (包含蜘蛛、蠍
子、蟎等)
例句：Some arachnids have fangs.
主權：arachnid 來自希臘文的 "蜘蛛"，會認字即可。arthropod (n) 節肢動物 (生物分
類學中的一門)，可從字根來看 arthro- (joint 節) + pod (foot 肢)，arthro- 另可記
arthritis (n) 關節炎。蛛形綱動物是節肢動物門下的一支。fang (n) (蛇的)毒牙。
zany (M-W)
(adj.) showing wild, clownish behavior 滑稽可笑的
例句：My grandfather has a zany personality.
主權：跟 funny 一起聯想。
sleuth (M-W)
(n.) a detective 偵探
例句：He liked pretending he was a sleuth.
主權：sleuth = detective 是 sleuthhound 的縮寫。hound 或 bloodhound 是鼻子非常
靈敏的獵犬，可以從遺留的一點氣味或血跡追蹤人，就像偵探 (sleuthhound) 可以從犯
罪者留下的微小證據查出真相一樣。可以用發音去記憶，除了名偵探柯南 (Conan)、福爾
摩斯 (Holmes) 外，還有名偵探 "史露斯" (Sleuth)。
carp (M-W)
(n) a type of fish found in ponds and rivers 鯉魚
例句：The carp gasped for breath.
主權：GRE 會考這個字的動詞解釋 "批評" = complaint，carping (a) 挑剔的。gasp
for breath 氣喘吁吁。此圖的鯉魚嘴巴張得大大的，像不像發怒的老闆在抱怨員工呢？
