This cool, humidified air 說明為何需要海水=> 不是直接用來灌溉 1.維持濕度 2.冷卻功能=> 上一題就有問推論海水可以冷卻沙漠的風所以海水的溫度應該比沙漠低 : accelerates plant growth; little water evaporates from leaves. 可以幫助植物成長減少水分散失(不要忘了這是沙漠沙漠的風很熱又很乾所以要使其潮濕並加以冷卻) : Though greenhouses normally capture the heat of sunlight, a double-layered 一般的溫室常常用來保持室內溫度但這裡是沙漠沙漠的特性就是日夜溫差大所以溫室不只是引入陽光讓植物生長更重要的是隔熱(紅外線是光能中熱的來源) 注意作者用的句型Though...(,the inner layer差入句,) allows visible sunlight in but(連接詞) 這句就是強調為何有雙層內層有鍍膜可以反射紅外線但讓可見光進入=>跟一般溫室一樣維持植物生長特點是這些被反射的紅外線加熱了兩層之間的空氣這些空氣又用來與室內潮濕的空氣混合變成潮濕的熱空氣最後在冷凝板上冷凝=>變成水=>灌溉植物所以重點不是這個計畫可不可能實現是清楚物品的性質與特殊之處 : roof, the inner layer coated to reflect infrared light outward, allows : visible sunlight in but traps solar heat between the two layers. This heated : air, drawn down from the roof, then mixes with the greenhouse air as it : reaches a second sea - water-moistened cardboard wall at the back of the : greenhouse.
