OMG I'm so excited right now! The score is out today so for those who took Chung Hsing Univ. test on 12/12, go check it. L8　R8.5　W6.5　S6.5　O 7.375 rounded to 7.5 * Can't believe the first two, thought it'd be more mistakes since I at one point misheard the instruction! ** Writing is okay, I wrote like 270 words on T2 and just about 150 in T1. Time management is important, it took me to the last second correcting and adding things. *** Speaking is always my weakness. I got this British examiner with braid, a receding hairline and bad fashion sense. He looked strict. I paused a lot and overused/misused lots of things. Ugh. This is my very first test. The motivation of me taking IELTS is that I'm applying to Canada next fall 2010. I need an overall of 6.0 with no individual score below 5 (btw it's diploma prog). I'm an undergrad in TW and I'm Indonesian, so English is a second languange to me. Four years ago, I took TOEFL CBT in my home country and the result was satisfying (253) but administered without speaking test and I got 4 out of 6 for the writing test (can't remember much). So when I considered taking IELTS I was practically chickened out. Talk about challenge! My preparation time is about a month including finding sources and books to practice. Sadly it was a busy time of year and I ended up with only a week away from the judgment day. I was practically panicked! (who doesn't?). I could only complete Cambridge 1 and half of Cambridge 6, but I finished the Insight to IELTS. Don't follow my steps! See how I maintain my English (and keep on improving it) is that I unconciously 'practice'. I watch lots of TV shows & books (see this is why my W and S are lower) all in English and on a daily basis as I don't attend any cram school. As for the location, the test took place in the Language Center and the atmosphere was actually heavy and unnerving, I guess this is because of my anxiety :/ I'd like to thank my friends and those who wished me a good score, including this IELTS board, so much info and sharing!
