and make comparisons where relevant.

The two charts divided the population in England into four different
weight categories and demonstrated the proportion of men and women
in each category over the period, during the period 1993 and 2002), less
than a decade.
In 1993, a little less than half the male population in England (47%)
was categorized in the range as healthy weight; still, the percentage
dropped to 40 % in 1998 and incessantly declined slightly to
approximately 38 % in the year 2002. By comparison, the percentage
of men who were overweight had an opposite trend, rising in two stages
from 42 % in 1993 to 45 % in 1998 and ultimately 46 % in 2002. Over the
same period, there was a modest increase in the obesity rate in the male
population from 10 % to 12%, whereas the population of dangerously
obese men remained low at about 2 %.
Viewing from the other group, in the percentage of overweight for
females, there was a slight increase from 47 % in 1993 to 49 % in 2002.
Besides, the obese women rose moderately from 12 % in 1993 to 18 %
and 19 % between 1998 and 2002. On the contrary, female population
with healthy weight declined constantly, from 40 % in 1993 to 35 % in
1998, arriving at the point 32 % in 2002. Compared with the weight
development in the male population, the group of female had quite a
similar trend over the same time. Apparently, women who had healthy
weight and overweight constituted the vast majority of the female
population. Moreover, astonishingly the dangerously obese for females
remained steady, at nearly 2 %, the same as men.
It seemed that the whole population in England was becoming
increasingly corpulent and the obesity rate was consistently higher in
the female population than in the male population.
