Today I want to make sure that something is on everyone's radar, as they dig
into their applications.
Many schools will ask specifically what you have done to research their
program. And even for those schools that dont ask, youd be wise to do some
SERIOUS research prior to applying. Now to be sure, not everyone will make
it onto the schools' campuses. That is perfectly fine, and to be expected.
But you will STILL need to make the point that you have done your research.
So, how will you pull that off? Easy--reach out to current students and
alums. This should be EASY for you--most schools offer up a group of
students who have volunteered for this exact task. And if not, you can
certainly network into these classes. So for example, if you are all about
entrepreneurship, do yourself a favor and try to speak with the president of
the entrepreneurship club! Speak to members of the club, speak to...someone.
We make this service available to all our clients of course--since we now
have a rolodex of clients in all major schools across the globe. But even
without our contacts, you should be able to do the same.
Now I am bringing this up now because making those connections will take
TIME. That is, we hate to read an applicant's essays on October 12, deadline
of October 15, and he has no time to make these connections! Make
them...NOW. PROVE that you love the school, and that youve taken the
research process seriously. This process should begin TODAY.
