Your actual answer to TBD does not matter, but you need to show your thoughtfulness in the group interaction. Wharton had guidelines for TBD, but chose not to enforce them to learn more about applicants’ ability to “self-regulate”. On joint degrees – e.g. w/ HKS or SAIS – there are no joint admissions committees; decisions are made independently. Health Care Management students are assigned to healthcare major-only learning teams, but teams are then spread across all 12 cohorts. Wharton is not just a finance school – students interested in retail, real estate, marketing, and other fields are welcome! When stating your career goals, you should know what is feasible. Awareness is as important as thoughtfulness. Wharton saw an uptick in yield since implementing TBD this year. Lauder yield is highest at 79%. Wharton doesn’t want applicants to perceive Wharton TBD as a winner-take-all "gladiator" competition. Applicants need to be clear on academic capability and work ethic when applying to Lauder or JD/MBA. This summer Wharton has more interns at Google & Amazon than Goldman Sachs & Credit Suisse Last year 27% of Wharton class indicated an interest in going into private equity (PE); only 10% or 11% of the graduating class is heading into PE TUCK: Plans to move from 4 essays to 3 this year. Likely will drop the optional use of videos in the application process. If it looks like an applicant wrote his own recommendation letter, “we may give the applicant a chance to respond”. YALE: Sees increase in tech and decrease in investment banking CORNELL Hints at major essay changes; "table of contents" essay is the only 1 that will remain the same. Considering a “video introduction” as part of this year’s application. COLUMBIA Shortening of immediate goals question is to get candidates to be more direct.
