So developers here have a career track with real wealth creation upside when they stay on the tech team, though for people with trading strategy ideas and free time, there are no barriers to testing things out and trying to develop your own strategies. In addition, technologists here drive our process and enjoy high status – a bit different from how the banks work, for example. What I need are C++ / Linux developers to help us with infrastructure, algos, and systems development. Ideally we want people with the well-roundedness to contribute to all three of those areas, even if certain tasks require a learning curve. Developers who thrive in this role are likely speed-geeks, who want to think about picoseconds and deploying solutions on FPGAs. We’re a small shop (about 25 employees – half technologists, half business people) but active in most major markets. Compensation is competitive with bulge-bracket banks and other high-frequency shops, plus full benefits, free lunch (and dinner if you stay past 630). Our bonuses are in cash, though, not restricted stock.
