Associate Design Engineer - Firmware
Role Description
This is an entry level mentored position that will write new code
and support existing code. Our environment is a fast paced
development department requiring agile thinking, quick problem
comprehension and excellent communications skills.
Our goal is to find a competent engineer with enough ambition to
learn quickly and become an important part of our design team.
This person will be responsible for providing design support to
our design team by providing low level code and related APIs so
our application programmers do not need to understand the detailed
operation of the low level hardware peripherals in our designs.
Qualifications
Role Requirements:
The ability to write and debug simple applications for the PC
using Visual Studio is required. Typically these applications are
written in C# but occasionally VB, XML or C++ may be required.
These are typically in-house programs used by our engineering and
manufacturing group as test and configuration programs.
Ability to write and debug embedded processor code in C for
assorted ARM processors. This is low-level code dealing with the
hardware intimately. You must be able to read a schematics and
datasheets and implement low-level code to configure and drive
various peripheral chips such as UART, Timers, ADC, DAC, PWM and
processors.
Familiarity with i2c, SPI, RS232, USB, EEPROM, FLASH, JTAG
debuggers, TCP/IP and other technologies desired. Experience with
basic engineering tools such as oscilloscope, meters and power
supplies also desired as well as experience with more advanced
tools such as spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer and data-scopes.
Required Skills: Good Communications Skills, Visual Studio C#, C,
Basic Electronics Instrument Usage, Some embedded programming
Useful Skills: JTAG debugger experience, Experience using assorted
IDE besides Visual Studio for code development, good debugging
skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
experience.
