這個問題最近越來越常發生了特別是中國越來越多研究人員都在國外..(台灣人數真的比不過中國,沒辦法) 如果遇到超愛國的中國人, 就會要求國外一些單位作一些...小動作.. 像 province of China 這類的今年一月我幫老闆投稿的時候就發生這種事, 我也寫信去抗議過 =============================== 第一條分隔線 =============================== 以下是我寫給對方的信: Dear xxx : A question about the submission system. I have taken this issue up with 'Oxford Abstracts' and they have provided me with the explanation below. We previously used a country name of "Taiwan" but we received complaints from mainland China. We want to provide a completely neutral and independent service for our clients and we won't take sides in any dispute of this kind, so we now use the country names provided by the International Standards Organisation (ISO), which gives Taiwan as "Taiwan, Province of China". The ISO 3166 list has been the accepted international standard for country names since 1974 and is available at: http://www.iso.org/iso/en/prods-services/iso3166ma/02iso-3166-code-lists/ list-en1.html You'll see that this list includes several controversial names - for example "Falkland Islands (Malvinas)". People in both countries might find the ISO name annoying but it's the "official" name according to the ISO so it is the one that we use. Likewise Palestine is listed as "Occupied Palestinian Territory" which some people might find provocative. In the FAQs about ISO 3166-1 the ISO says that Taiwan is named Taiwan Province of China because this name is taken from United Nations sources.
