The Department of Teacher Education at New York Institute of Technology is see
king candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Educatio
n. This is a full-time, visiting faculty position for AY18-AY19 (Spring 2019
and Summer 2019).
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in early childhood educatio
n. These duties will also include research, supervising and coordinating field
work and internships, and university and professional service. Teaching assig
nments will include online, face-to-face, and blended courses.
Qualifications
-Earned a doctorate in Early Childhood, Child Development, Curriculum & Instru
ction or closely related field. (ABD will be considered, but the completed doc
toral degree is required by the start of the contract, Spring, 2019.)
-Teaching/research and demonstrated expertise in Early Childhood field.
-Minimum of three (3) years of Early Childhood professional experience as we a
re a licensing and credentialing program accredited by the National Associatio
n for the Education of Young Children.
Preferred Qualifications
-Three (3) years of Early Childhood (birth – second grade) teaching experienc
e.
-Demonstrated interest in:
Early childhood teaching methods for infants and toddlers, curriculum developm
ent, and inquiry-based learning;
Working with diverse populations;
Online instruction;
Child development and guidance;
Technology in the early years;
Community and special education collaboration;
Early literacy and English language learners;
Designing learning environments;
Planning for differentiated instruction.
Terms of Appointment
Visiting, full-time, academic year appointment beginning January 1, 2019.
