Ph.D. Student Opening Field: Biochemical Engineering, Food Processing, Carbohydrate Chemistry, Gut Microbiome Department: School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University Location: Singapore One Ph.D. graduate assistantship in the food process engineering, carbohydrate chemistry or gut microbiome is available immediately in the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE) at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The Ph.D. candidate is expected to hold a B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology or Chemical Engineering from a prestigious academic institution, possess enthusiasm in the scientific discovery and developing engineering solutions for real-world issues. Successful candidates will be sponsored by SCBE that includes full tuition waving and receive a monthly stipend for living expenses. The admitted candidate will join the “Food Manufacturing and Health Laboratory” in SCBE, focus on applying biochemical and engineering principles to food and bioprocess procedures to improve system’s efficiency and human health. Specific projects include but not limited to developing sustainable urban food manufacturing systems, creating values for agricultural byproducts, manufacturing bioactive carbohydrates, and elucidating substrate-specific microbial communities.
