What point dose the professor make when she mentions squirrels? 2) Mammals have more than one way of regulating their temperture. 3) Smaller animals have more success than larger animals in adapting to different microclimates. P: Well, since cold air sinks, and these spots are shaded, they are usually much cooler than the surrounding area. And these spots are so important because many animals rely on microclimates to regulate their body temperature. Hmm, for instance, there is a species of squirrel, in the Western oart of the United States that can get really hot when they were out foraging for food. So they need a way to cool down. So what'd they do? They go back to their own burrow. Once tehy get there, their body temperature decrease very very quickly. The trip to the burrow prevents the squirrel from getting too hot. S: But squirrels are mammals, right? P: Mammals do have the ability to regulate their body temperature, but not all can do it to the same degree, or even the same way. Like when you walk outside on a hot day, you perspire, and your body cools itself down, a classic example of how mammal regulate its own body temperature. But one challenge that squirrels face, well many small mammals do is that because of their size sweating would make them lose too much moisture. They dehydrate. But on the other hand, their small size allows them to fit into very tiny spaces. So for small mammals, microclimates can make a big difference. They rely on microclimates for survival.

the answer is 2?..Answer 3is clearly wrong, isn't ?
10/13 18:22, 1F

10/13 18:22, , 2F
the professor uses this example to indicates that some

small animals face the problem that because of their size

sweating would make them lose too much moisture. ...

10/13 18:28, , 5F
in this way, answer3 is wrong, no doubt~

But on the other hand, their small size allows them to fit into very tiny spaces. So for small mammals, microclimates can make a big difference. 3) Smaller animals have success in adapting to different microclimates.

10/13 21:59, 16F

10/13 22:28, , 17F
the professor just offers the example, he doesn't compare
10/13 22:28, 17F

10/13 22:30, , 18F
in other words, there is no comparision in success betwee
10/13 22:30, 18F

10/13 22:31, , 19F
n the animals with different size~~
10/13 22:31, 19F

10/13 22:33, , 20F
