因為我在本篇原文推文解釋被噓，其實覺得很莫名其妙。之前看到exempt大大在某文推文說過類似：「本版很多英文觀念不清楚卻喜歡當英文老師的人。」當時想這應該還好吧？不過在板上待了快一年的時間，這種無力感還挺大的。自己觀念錯誤影響自己就算了，在這裡大放闕詞影響到其他人導致他們正式考試題目寫錯，那這個責任誰扛得起呢？ ※ 引述《asdhse (10-10-10)》之銘言： : 書名：怪物講師閱讀 : 版本：再版12刷 : 頁數：p.388 第104題 : 題目： : No one knows how successful he is; ____ he will be remembered : forever as an amazing talent. : A) therefore : B) but : C) however : D) yet : 答案C 我寫D : 為何不能用yet,空格前的 ; 不是有連接詞的特性嗎 : 為甚麼連接詞however還能當答案呢? : 感謝大家 [解析]： 1. 確實分號「;」可以有對等連接詞的功能，意義上跟and/but/or差不多。 Ex. I love you(,) and I want to marry you. = I love you; I want to marry you. Ex. I love you(,) but I can't marry you. = I love you; I can't marry you. Ex. I can stay here(,) or I can leave now. = I can stay here; I can leave now. 再一例： Ex. Nobody is in the party; it is still early.　上述句子的逗點存在與否主要看說話的人或是閱讀者會不會嫌句子過於冗長，如果覺得句子長到有點累贅，那就逗點隔開；我在版上有看過版友說：「對等連接詞前面一定要有逗點，」這個觀念是錯的。 2. 第二個錯誤觀念：對等連接詞不可以放在句首。請記住，對等連接詞可以放在句首，只是對等連接詞不可以放在句首連接。當對等連接詞放在句首的時候，就不具備有連接詞功能，轉而當adv，修飾後面全句。這種架構特別容易在長篇閱讀測驗出現，往往也剛好是出題關鍵點。 Ex. Now, in the modern age, that same fear must provide the motivation for finding new ways of creating enough food for everyone in the world. But Homo sapiens, the different and "wise" animal that already has invented so many dramatic ways of accomplishing wonders, is fully capabple of solving this problem, too. 上述句子的But即是此例。至於何謂放在句首「連接」呢？ Ex. Although I love you, I can't marry you. = I can't marry you although I love you. = I love you(,) but I can't marry you. 就不可以改為： But I can't marry you, I love you. [X] 3. 分號除了有對等連接詞功能，但是也可以純粹當句子轉折語氣用，後面可以接對等連接詞。 Ex. Actually, the survey, conducted by Dr. Scully in Canada, discovered that people are happiest when they feel that they are in charge of their own lives; enjoy a close relationship with other individuals; believe they are doing well; and have strong beliefs in their own worth, rather than being worthless. 以上三點來看，從題意來看可以先把(A) therefore去掉以外，之所以其他三個選項也可以選，原因如下： No one knows how successful he is; ____ he will be remembered forever as an amazing talent. A) therefore B) but C) however D) yet B) but可以，上述原因第三點； C) however當「然而」，絕對不是連接詞。唯一當連接詞考時意義是「無論如何」；如果有人把「然而」當連接詞誤導大家，我祈禱你的見解不要害到別人。 D) yet常見詞性： 1. 對等連接詞，等於but。 Ex. I hate him, but/yet I have to talk to him. 2. 當作adv，有以下情況： a) 尚未，往往會跟完成式連用。 Ex. I haven't yet finished the project. = I have yet to finish the project. b) 然而，就等於however。 Ex. The path was dark.
