Research Opportunity in the Jia Laboratory at Stony Brook University, the
State University of New York
(Biomedical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics/Optics,
Biology/Biochemistry)
The Jia Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the State
University of New York at Stony Brook is looking for passionate and
self-motivated researchers at all levels (visiting scholars, postdoctoral
fellows, graduate and undergraduate students). The Jia Laboratory works on
super-resolution optical microscopy, inventing and applying advanced
single-molecule biophotonics to study complex, dynamic biological systems at
the nanometer scale. Specifically, our research aims to develop a host of
methods that enable the extraction of structural, molecular and functional
information from large-scale biological systems, including novel optical
design, single-molecule biophysics and biochemistry, computational imaging,
advanced instrumentation, nano-fabrication, etc. Our interdisciplinary
research team are looking for motivated students and scholars with all
backgrounds (preferred in physics, engineering or biology/biochemistry).
About Stony Brook: Stony Brook University is the flagship and largest campus
of the State University of New York, located on the beautiful Long Island,
about 60 miles east of New York City. The University is adjacent to Cold
Spring Harbor Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory and various research
resources in Greater New York area.
About PI: Dr. Jia received his postdoctoral training in the lab of Professor
Xiaowei Zhuang in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology and
Department of Physics at Harvard University. He obtained his Ph.D. in
Electrical Engineering with Professor Jason W. Fleischer from Princeton
University.
