[問題] 字體設計的術語
最近在翻譯字體設計類的文章，
有一些術語不知道翻得貼不貼切，想請教大家:
stroke width 筆劃寬度
display types 特排字體
text types 正文字體
character set 字符集
1. The problems you encounter tend to be along the lines of
grid restriction (網格限制). Like, what the hell do you do with
the letter "S"?
請問網格限制和字母S有什麼關係呢？
2. They'll gain insights into the very different skills that typeface
designers employ, especially the ability to work in parallel with small
scales and patterns within paragraphs.
（他們可深入了解字體設計師應用的不同技巧，尤其是行文內……的技能。）
請問此處的small scales 和 patterns是什麼意思？
3. We are against type designs that have no sense of proportion（比例）,
spacing（間距）and coherence（一致性）.
4. Great Sans comes in 10 weights and four widths- Compressed, Condensed,
Normal and Expanded.
（Great Sans有10種粗細和4種寬度，分別為縮窄、壓擠、一般和拉寬。）

5. After identifying the idea, I test it in a word, usually creating a small
drawing.
（確定想法後，我先草擬一個字，通常是小字）
Typefaces are easy to start drawing, but very difficult to complete.
請問這兩句的drawing是否是草擬的意思？
6. 以下三句都是在講字體Killer：
The result was Killer, with its sidebar serifs forming the central focus of
the reader's eye.
He removed the sidebars, which made it fell much less aggressive and more
fluid.
請問sidebar在此是什麼意思? 側邊欄?
In effect it's a stencil font- albeit a very elaborate one- as there are no
joins between the two halves of the type. I think it really comes into
its own when you shade it or colour the different sections in separately.
（由於字體中間沒有相連，所以其實它是模版印刷的字體，但是設計十分精細。
把字體加上陰影或個別在不同的……上色，就能看出Killer的精細之處。）
請問stencil font是否為 模版印刷的字體？sections是什麼意思呢？
