My teacher told me that British is very : : gentlemen, and american is more causal... : : Open... : : they're not afraid to talk about anything directly : well, actually, everytime when people say an accent is more gentle or casual, : i would like to ask, "why do u think it's gentle/casual?" : no offense, i'm just curious about that... : why some people will have a fixed opinion that : british accent is elegant and american one is ordinary..... For me, it's not just a question of stereotype. I heard both accents quite often and compared them. The main reason why I think British accent is more elegant, is that normally British people speak much more slower than Americans. When you speak slowly, you tend to be clearer. I think elegant people never rush when they talk. Moreover, British people are more likely to emphasize on certain important points they try to explain in a sentence. Again, these are just my personal opinions. I think everyone must be happy to have the chance to express freely, and at the same time practice our English writing skill, right? We're not arguing, we're just exchanging our points of view! ^^ : cuz of the speaking pace? their way of talking? or any reasons else? : forgive me if u think i'm offensive ^^ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.229.174.63
