maybe you don't have to do it directly
you can just try not to go out with your boyfriend
the excuse can be easy since it's Chinese New Year now
the less contact would bring more space between you two
for one or two months , maybe the feeling of pain would be less to him
and he'll realize that you two are not couple anymore
