※ 引述《JimmyWr (Wanna meet a foreigner)》之銘言:
: Today is Tomb Sweeping days..
: for me...I didn't know today is a holiday before.
: I misunderstood that Tomb sweeping day could't be a holiday at all.
: So, it this a fornmal custom Taiwanese only used to do?
: (How about Japanese,Sigapore? actually
: I know westerner they aren't used to do like this )
: On the purpose of paying for the ancestor's respect
: and sweeping, puting some sacrifice bt the tombstone in this day.
I think most of the country around the world have their own way of
worshiping their ancestors. However, we oriental worship ancestors partially
for showing our respect, but I guess mainly for the mysterious power that
we expect our ancestors possess. In contrast, in the West, I suggest it is
missing the passing beloved that makes people buy a bunch of flowers to the
graveyard.
Besides, I wonder whether what we call the "Tomb Sweeping Day" really exists
in the past. For, as everyboby knows, each tribe may choose a given day for
tomb-sweeping, there is quite low possibility that they all happen to choose for
the same date. So I prefer the government set 4/5 as a national "holiday"--
Tomb Sweeping Day just for convenience.
