Even today, I'll be a little afraid to speak English in public. But, much better than monthes ago....... You can't imagine the time when I got my grades of the GEPT inter-mediate tests. I was a high school student, and I did well whether in the listening or reading. But, my speaking is awfully poor. What did I do to improve? I gave up a little part of the English magazines, and instead, I read more novels. What can novels do? If magazines help us with the vocabularies and knowledge, then the novels help us with our talking and attract us with the plot. Really? Yes-----have you notice the unusually more conversations in the novels? What would it help? When you attract by the exciting story, you'll read and learn much talking-sentences, phrases, and usages without notice yourself. It DO really help !!! The same method also works in movies or TV-shows..... And of course after all these self-training, you must also do practice with English-speaking people, at first (Taiwanese) with friends, then to the native-speakers. Provide here a small tip....if you can find not-English speaking foreigners, such as Japanese, Turkian, Korean, German, or such people, you can conversation with then in English, but more confidencial, and with much fun. Their pronounce would usually strange, and with heavy accent. Talking with them would concur your fear of speaking with foreigners....... Finally, hope you overcome your fear successfully and with more confidence talking in English !!!!!!!!!! - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - P.S.
