i just had a small talk with an old friend yesterday, and there
was something really surprised me. we hadn't talked to each other
for a long time before last night, although i thought of him quite
often. supposedly, we both had gone through lots of different things
and there should have been some distance between us. on the contrary,
we felt that there was no gap between us, and moreover, we felt so
close and bound to each other that we needed no words to express
how far we had gone through and how we felt in these days. the silence
between us was not awkward but fulfilled with understanding and warmth,
and every single word we uttered embraced certain implied meaning
which can only be perceived by us. his voice touched the deepest
part in my heart, our bitter sweet history and repressed emotions,
things we never had the chance to say, and now, we understand and
need no earthy language to explain. his loving friendship inundated
me and i really felt lucky to know someone like him. this small but
meaningful incident brightened my night and my mind.
an old saying that "make new friends and keep the old, one
is silver and the other gold" is surely true.
