Diligence and thrift are the bases of service Diligence, which means doing things or self-training laboriously, is a kind of good attitude for working. When people are working for some greater tasks, diligency is bound to be the chief factor for the final result. Thrift is a person's ability of economisize on his or her own property or money in hand. Thrify people can make the most of their money in right places for themselves; in contrast with others who have about the same money, they have greater probability of success. I think that diligency and thrift are the bases of service, because they can do more tings and always try to do things better. They pursue the best efficiency in their sevices for others. Ancient sages said, "Diligence is the means by which one can make up for one's dulness". In many people's mind, the difference between people's ability in certain aspects are great. Those who display great capacity for some kinds of performance are thought of as talents having a destined fortune, and they have been gift and smart since very small. However, it is proved to be a wrong idea. We can often see many good examples of those who are challenged or have certain congenital disabilities succeed in the long run in books or newspapers. For example, a very famous student Sun Chia-Liang who suffers from cerebral embolism, double majored computer science & engineering and math in NTU and got the best average grades for graduation. A person who is so unfortuneate like him can exhibit a so great performance, can others make excuses by trivial reasons for failures ? If one's performance fall short of others' expectation too excessively, it is due to the insufficiency in diligency. Reversely, one will finally fulfill all tasks and achieve goals if he or she have enough diligence. Those sucessful persons who make good services to others concentrate on their works and insist on training themselves. As a proverb goes, "Gold will not germinate seeds; they only germinated in laborious families". One can't make good services to others without diligence. Thrift is required for making good services to others. People can't do all great things without money in the world. Thus, those who can do the same things with less money are bound to have fruitful results. Thrift is a good virtue in Chines tradition, and it's also a crucial factor of things to be done. For example, when a school club has a fixed budget for holding an annual activity, their performance must be poor if money are mostly spent on trvial things; reversely, their performance would be great if they are thrify in every dollars they spent. If some persons have merely a little money but they are very determined, they can also fulfill miraculous deeds. In conclusion, diligence and thrift are both good virtues. They are both people's attitude toward doing anythings. If one insists on achieveing the goals in mind and put high emphasis on thift, he or she will succeed finally. Disadvantages in abilities or money are only the pretexts for failures. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.116.231.96
