I had once face such a difficulty, too.
I was at a theater with two of my friends. Suddenly, one of them recognized
her English teachers, who are from US. Naturally, they set about shooting
the breeze.
After their short talk, the foreigners asked my friend to introduce the
remaining members of the threesome, one of which is me. Much to my
astonishment, one of the foreigners suddenly reached out his hand and said
that his name's Dustin. I was totally shocked, though there was no reason
for me to be shocked. We just shook hand and said nothing. It was not until
Dustin said his name three times did I squeezed some word from my lips:
Nice to meet you.......
I still don't really know what's wrong with me. I should not have been
frightened. But I just have... After this encounter, I determined to learn
and to practice English more harder, for fear that I might face the same
difficulty and embarrassment again!
