Found A Good VPS
After looking for an appropriate hosting company to deploy my TurboGears
application for a long time, I finally found a match one called vpslink. With
vpslink, you can choice your favorite distro from many Linux distro such as
Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, CentOS, SUSE, and of course my favorite one Gentoo.
Also, the price is very friendly for me, and my clients I think. This is an
unmanaged VPS, it means you need to set everything by only yourself. If you
installed Gentoo, the first thing after login to shell is probably to run
"emerge --sync", or you can't use emerge to install any software. Their VPS
is totally clean, I like it although it may take a while to initialize, but
at least I can control everything, running TurboGears application behind
Nginx, using PostgreSQL as my back-end database, etc. I'm not advertising for
them, but I'd really like to recommend this hosting company if you need a VPS.
Note:
1. Currently I use Link-2 plan: 5GB disk space, 100GB bandwidth, 128MB
dedicated memory with $USD 12.46/mo.
2. The static file downloading velocity I tested from Taiwan is over
300KB/sec.
3. They provide email support, forum, and wiki.
4. In control panel, you can choice what distro you want to install, reboot,
and manage DNS.
