Here is a trick that might help. Get some 'silica gel' - that's the little packet you see in food to absorb the water from the food. Next, put some of these packets in a plastic bag, with your hard disk. Wait a day. It's important to get all the water out of it. Now, put your hard disk into the FREEZER! You want zero degrees. Make sure your computer is set up and ready to copy data off quickly to another hard disk. Run windows from a different hard disk. Now, connect your hard disk again, (use a 'USB connector) If you are lucky, you have a '10 minute gap' to try and get data off your disk Sometimes, when a physical 'colission' is taking place, by changing the temperature, you change the chance of colission. As the disk is used, it will warm up again. So, you only have a ltitle time. Focus on your 'documents' folder. Any time the computer stops copying the data, forget about that directory. Try another directory instead. You can try the trick several times It doesn't always work. I once saved 235GB from a 250GB disk, using this trick. Don't try to run the disk directly, to load into windows. Only use the USB connector to get your data out. This way, you get the maximum possible time. Also, you can try 'restarting' the disk a couple of times by unplugging the USB and reconnecting, without resetting the computer. I recommend Samsung disks in future. Not the fastest, but they are the quietest and one of the most reliable. I've had problems with seagate, maxtor, western digital, and definitely IBM (now called hitatchi) over the last 15 years. I have never had a problem with a samsung disk. So, use that as your next replacement. Hurray for japanese technology :-) Mu ※ 引述《leojdh (淺藍忘憂草)》之銘言: : I bought a new WD hard disk (WD5000AAKS) in 4/20. : But it broken in three day ago. : I looking for the service binder. : They can change a new one to me, but without data rescue. : Oh! without data rescue... : I just move my data and plane my backup way.. : It broken in abruptly. : Shit! the rescue cost is 7000~10000NT dollars. : But I just buy it 3000NTD. : My first WD hard disk is dead. : Not only hard disk is dead, but also my trust for WD is dead too. : Although I have broken hard disk experiences. : But it is first in one month. : It's very terrible for rescue my data serves. : If I spend it in this month. : I can't go Palau in June with my best friend in this year. : We traveling every year form 12 years ago. : I don't want loss this travel. : But the hard disk have my career data.. : Make money is important too. : M... let me looking for how can I make money external. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 122.116.208.153
