I just can't keep quiet reading what I'm reading... sorry for the long read. ※ 引述《YourDad (油袋)》之銘言: : ※ 引述《Facsimile (吐浪飛)》之銘言: : : Hello, everyone... : : I'm a student, studying in US. I'm not good at speaking English, so I'm : : always afraid to speak to people. : : I would like to ask about this... : : How can I do? How should I do? @___@ : : Thanks~ : If you can't speak English well, : then why you have to study in US? You are making too much assumptions about OP's background, and quite frankly it doesn't concern you where he/she decides (or even forced to) to study/live. Would it be legitimate to ask you "If you can't be a decent man, boyfriend, husband, or father, then why bother to exist at all? And who is it to judge whether you are decent enough?" : Learning knowledge or skill that Taiwan no one knows? : In fact , You sure you can learn it well? Again, the negative comment is totally unnecessary. You sure you deserve the position you hold at work? Of course you'll say you are... I hope. No need to put down people like this. : Or you just thought studying in foriegn country is pretty cool or a fad? : But now you can't solve this "talking" problem ? : Ha! That's ridiculous ~ Sounds like someone is jealous... I can smell it from miles away. It's your right not to value studying abroad as a good opportunity, but not yours to determine for others. : Give you a pity and my suggestion: : Just move back to Taiwan. : Why? Because..... : Here's a lot of people don't speak English well like you, : and you can make a lot of friends here. If by friends you mean people with your attitude, I'd rather sit in the US and rot alone. Basically, the rest of your bull, or perhaps its entirety, has no constructive value and can be ignored altogether. : So,don't stay in US like a fool. : Besides,if you just wanna have playing in US and pretend to being a student, : and......I also give you an advise: Just have fun! : Maybe you just took your parents' order, : but truth is always undefeatable: : Staying in US without English speaking ability is a stupid idea, : still more studying in US ? : I guess lonelyness is fill with your situation now. : So come back, : Taiwan is your home! As for constructive suggestions to Fac, I'd say you'll just have to keep a real low profile and humbly, but NOT shy, to ask your teacher, professor, and helpful friends who will bother to listen to you. Trust me, there won't be many, but the ones who do are really worthy to make friends with. One thing that helps me to overcome the fear of speaking is to think the way I speak Chinese. Why is it OK to make mistakes when I speak Chinese, and still have no problem talking to others? Know that the purpose of you learning English is only to talk, not to showcase your grammatical skill nor your knowledge in the longest and hardest word in the English language. Learning a language takes time, and by submerging into an all-English environment will only speed up the process, which is a good thing for you. If you landed in the U.S. without knowing a single vocabulary, it'll only take 2-3 years to be able to begin conversing with people for an average person. If you are optimistic and see your studying abroad as a positive experience in your life, you will learn to treasure the hardship you're encountering right now. You'll be glad that you've endured the transitional period. Otherwise, it would be a waste of time. It's all about attitude and only you can control it. -- "Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 118.165.171.172 ※ 編輯: wnwangster 來自: 118.165.171.172 (07/24 02:38)
