Re: [Talk] sth from a "quasi-graduate" student …
First of all, welcome.
Second of all, I'm more than certain that your posts will only be
appropriately acknowledged and responded, so there really is no reason
to hold back with your postings on this already dormant forum.
I don't know if there are any professional English scholars around, but
I, for one, certainly do not pertain to the group you're speaking of.
However, I do think that this is probably not the best place on Earth to
look for profound English literatures. I've always seen EngTalk as a forum
for random chitchat, and felt gloomy to see that most of the articles
turned into pages you'd find in a grammar lesson notes.
There's nothing wrong with using the simplest words and sentence structures
to convey your ideas, as verbal complexity is loosely related to the quality
of a good writing piece. You probably already realized that in speaking.
You belittled me at the same time when you put youself down...
But don't let me discourage you in using all of the vocabs in your dictionary
if that's the direction you are taking to better your skill. I'd be happy
to expand my word bank as well.
Your English is fine, stop pretending, I mean, being humble.
