※ 引述《chen95982000 (元元)》之銘言: : i just wonder how you guys see this. : I dont know which search engine is more popular, maybe the answer can be : different in different country. I use Google most when writing a report cuz : I think it's more powerful on searching the academic information. : But if I want some "quick answer" such as "how to say XXX in English" : I will use Yahoo Knowledge, you always find the answer right there waiting for : you, but it was occasionally produced from people on web which means the : answer could be wrong. I'm much of the contrary. If I need to find quick information, such as a local restaurant's hour and phone number, I use google. Or if I just want to get a easy summary of something, let's say a politician whom I have not heard of before, then I also use google because it is the fastest and it lists the related information in a convenient way. I might not even have to click any link to get an idea of that person. Same thing with the restaurant hours. However, if I want to do some more in-depth research, let's say about an international affair, then I will use Yahoo because they have a well-maintained news department. It seems that Yahoo actually provides a lot of things if you just look at the various tabs on their homepage. I mostly just use "finance" and "news" because these are my primary interests. I can't exactly type in QQQQ on a Google bar and see a graph, but under Yahoo finance I can see a graph of the stock with related news within one entry or click. But there also have been some interesting changes about Google. For example, on top of Google's homepage, if you click "more", then it will list a bunch of hidden features. If you click "even more", then the functions seem to even beat the number of tabs on Yahoo. The engineers and programmers are also always creating new stuff, so I can imagine that Yahoo might lose its advantage. Personally, I still value Yahoo higher than Google just because when I first used Google around perhaps 10 years ago or so, it was simply a basic search engine with no other function. I just used Google to link to other websites. But for Yahoo, it has always kept me on their own webpages and provided good service. Speaking of service, I almost forgot about the Yahoo photo albums which let me uploaded unlimited pictures for free. I think the album function is now called something else though, but the point is that Yahoo provided me a wide range of helpful functions much earlier than Google, that's why I have always considered Yahoo to be better than Google. I'll admit that I use Google bar much more frequently than Yahoo just because it is so fast and filled with results, but the next second I will usually be linked to somewhere else. If we are only comparing Google and Yahoo as search engines, then I believe Google is more powerful. But if we talk about them as websites, then I think Yahoo is better. -- ほらそこでくすぶっている 可愛いBOYS達と 今夜だけはGIRLS達も 強がりは お や す み -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 98.248.144.226
