Sevenal days ago, I am start reading a book about Buddhism, the title of the book is," The Sword of Wisdom." In the content of the book, I have see this word,"Ch'an" and didn't understand what it meaning. For this reason, I tried to guess that it probably was a person's name in ancient China, and of course, it was possible that Ch'an, a name of a famous monk. But, the fact is that I am totally wrong. Because the book talks someting about Buddhism, I could also see this word "enlightenment" very often, doubtless. Untill twenty menutes ago, I suddenly got enlightenment, and knew the ture meaning of the word Ch'an. In Chinese, we will writing Ch'an this way "禪". When realized that I am so happy, although it just a little thing. Don't need to be a genius to realize that the two nations Chain and Japan, both of them have the culture of 禪, but when translating to English, the way of writing are totally different, they say Japanese Zen and Chinese Ch'in. I know why are so strange, only because the pronunciation between Japanese and Chinese are different, and Zen and Ch'in are the same thing in my opinion. At the end, I want to explain why I am start reading whole English book? Once I considered that in my lifetime, I need finish reading at least seven books in English version, and The Sword of Wisdom is the first choice of mine, that's all. -- 必有一得。 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.104.146.154
